Art Music Lit Space

Projects

AML Space seeks loose, poetic proposals to take part in the collaboration, Yours, AML Space, which will result in an exhibition of the participating artists. Yours, AML Space takes Jasper Johns’s notes from a 1964 sketchbook—“Take an object / Do something to it / Do something else to it. [Repeat].”—and applies it to a chain of community exchange. As a group, participating artists will take a box / do something to it/ do something else to it. / Send to the next artist / Repeat.

The first artist will receive an empty box from AML Space, which they will then transmute, either conceptually, performatively or materially. After documenting the transmutation and its process, the artist will send the resulting object to the next artist (postage and address provided by gallery) who will then repeat the transmutation and transmission. And so on. AML Space will be sharing and tracking the project in various ways in the months leading up to the exhibition.

Nothing is to be included in the box, or whatever form evolves from the box, with the exception of personal notes to following artists. Notes can remain private, otherwise, artists will share documentation of the project and their process with it on social media outlets with #yours_AMLSpace.
